WordPress Development for a Online Language School

I developed an informational portal for a online language school built on WordPress, with a strong focus on scalable architecture, convenient content management, and a reliable administrative experience. In this project, I worked as a Backend Developer and partly as a Frontend Developer: I integrated the provided layout into WordPress, built a flexible content model based on ACF and custom post types, implemented dynamic blog functionality, multilingual support, caching, and a solid SEO foundation.

The project was designed as an educational and marketing portal where users could explore Japanese language courses, teacher profiles, class schedules, reviews, contact information, and online enrollment forms. The goal was not just to convert static markup into a CMS-powered website, but to deliver a professional WordPress solution where all key content could be managed through the admin panel without requiring developer involvement for daily updates.

Objectives and Goals

  • Integrate the provided layout into WordPress with a clean and maintainable theme structure.
  • Build a flexible content management system using ACF and custom post types.
  • Ensure easy administration of course pages, teacher profiles, reviews, schedules, and informational sections.
  • Implement a dynamic blog with category filtering, AJAX navigation, and pagination without full page reloads.
  • Automate review synchronization from Google Business Profile into WordPress.
  • Configure multilingual support for Japanese and English versions of the website.
  • Improve site performance through caching and prepare a strong foundation for SEO optimization.

Architecture and Key Components

Bedrock and Composer-based Architecture

Bedrock was selected as the architectural foundation of the project to bring a more professional and modern approach to WordPress development. This decision made it possible to manage dependencies via Composer, organize the file structure more clearly, separate environment configuration, and improve the overall security of the project. It also simplified long-term maintenance, deployment, and future scaling of the website.

Content Model with ACF and Custom Post Types

A custom content architecture was built on top of WordPress to support courses, individual course pages, teacher profiles, reviews, schedules, contacts, and other informational sections. I implemented custom post types and ACF fields so that content managers could fully manage the website through the admin panel. This approach provided flexibility, scalability, and significantly reduced the business dependency on developers for routine content updates.

Layout Integration into WordPress

The HTML markup delivered by the frontend developer was adapted and integrated into a WordPress theme with full support for dynamic data, reusable blocks, and CMS-driven content logic. Special attention was paid to keeping the templates clean, structured, and maintainable, making the project easier to extend in the future.

Custom Plugin for Google Business Profile Review Synchronization

As part of the project, I developed a custom WordPress plugin that synchronized reviews from Google Business Profile into a dedicated custom post type. The synchronization was scheduled to run automatically, allowing the website to display fresh social proof without manual intervention. This solution improved content relevance and strengthened trust in the school’s brand.

AJAX-powered Blog Functionality

For the blog section, I implemented dynamic category filtering, pagination, and content loading via AJAX without full page reloads. This improved the user experience, made content browsing faster and more fluid, and delivered a more modern interaction model while preserving a clean and well-structured content section.

Multilingual Support, Performance, and SEO Foundation

The website was configured to support two language versions - Japanese and English. I also implemented caching to improve performance and prepared a solid SEO foundation, including structured content hierarchy, logical page composition, and the ability to manage metadata for future search engine optimization and organic growth.

Main Pages and Modules

  • Homepage
  • Course pages
  • Single course page
  • Teacher page
  • Class schedule

Results for the Product

  • Automated the synchronization of reviews from Google Business Profile.

This WordPress project became more than just a CMS-based website - it evolved into a fully functional content platform for an educational business, backed by a well-designed architecture, process automation, and a highly manageable content model. The final solution combined editorial flexibility, backend stability, and technical readiness for long-term product growth.
